Providing Hands-on Care for Kupuna (seniors) - Hon

In the next 10 years there will be 300,000 people between the ages of 65 and 100 living on the island of Oahu. Per capita this is the largest concentration of elderly in the US. A very large percentage of these Kama ‘aina will need physical, mental and emotional assistance of one kind or another (as will their families) and any or all may or may not have the needed resources. The question is, how is our society preparing for this "aging" phenomenon?

Child & Family Service (CFS) is a highly effective private Non Profit Agency that has been strengthening families and fostering the healthy development of children for over 113 years. CFS has 39 programs and 2 years ago created Kūpuna Concierge (KC) a fee based, senior, in home, personal assistant, care business.

Kūpuna Concierge is a social enterprise for CFS. With both Federal and State funding to Non Profits presently at a vulnerable time in history, CFS not only wants to build business that will fund and support programs (especially Gerontology programs) serving the needy but do so in such an exceptional way. As great is the need for senior caregiving as is the need for it to be exceptional. After all, who would not want their very own Personal Assistant exceeding ones expectations?



Kūpuna Concierge has been designed and is operating (fee based) as though it is a 4 Diamond or 5 Star business with personal assistants taking care of the Kūpuna in their homes. The Business Manager and VP/General Manager have together worked with and for 4 Diamond and 5 Star Hotels over the past 30 years, providing, marketing and teaching an exceptional level of highly personal customer service. KC management also has over 20 years of hands on caregiving experience and staff supervision altogether making Kūpuna Concierge as a "care vacillator" a highly unique business plan. Clients range from a 55 year old with early dementia and needing help travel and meal preparation, to a 91 year old that against his family's wishes refuses to go into a facility (retirement home) and needs 24/7 care. Kūpuna Concierge along with its exceptional care of our Kūpuna is able to utilize the many departments of the 350 employee Child & Family Service from IT to Maintenance to its many family areas of Social Services to assist providing a full concierge service.

So, all in all Kūpuna Concierge is CFS's answer to an out of the box needed solution to help continue funding a mission to serve the truly needy and bring dignity to those in their later stages of life . The Hawaii senior care market has growing vitality as does the need and expectations for exceptional service.
